40-Ton Mercedes-Benz E-Truck Drove 1,000 Kms with Only One Charging Stop
Mercedes-Benz E-Truck has reached an important milestone with its eActros 600 electric truck prototype. It completed a challenging 1,000-kilometer journey through the Alps with only one charging stop.
This journey took the e-truck from Stuttgart, Germany, to Bolzano, Italy, and back, carrying a heavy 40-ton load. It managed steep hills and tough terrain without needing to stop and charge in between.
The successful trip was possible because of a few key factors. The truck has an efficient drive system, a large lithium-ion-phosphate battery (over 600 kWh), and strong recuperation Mercedes-Benz E-Truck capabilities.
The eActros 600 has two electric motors with 400 kW of power and can peak at over 600 kW.Mercedes-Benz E-Truck initially said it could go about 500 km (310 miles) on one charge, and it can recharge from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Engineers designed it to have a tough operational life of 1.2 million kilometers over 10 years on the road. This achievement shows the potential of electric trucks for long-distance journeys.
