Black Adam

The upcoming plan for DC’s “Black Adam” was revealed in a statement by Dwayne “Rock” Johnson.

“Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam may not be moving forward with a sequel, but the project is not dead.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor released a statement on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022, and shared it via his official Twitter handle. In the statement, Johnson wrote, “James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling.”

He wrote of Gunn, “James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed,” indicating that he had no ill will toward Gunn. It is the same now, and I will always support DC and Marvel to win big.

He went on to say, “These decisions made by DC leadership and James represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens.” I will always remember the way fans reacted to Black Adam with a lot of love, humility, and gratitude.

On his own Twitter account, Gunn shared Johnson’s statement and added, “Love [Johnson], and I’m always excited to see what he and Seven Bucks do next.” I can’t wait to work with you soon.

In the past, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn complained about people’s “uproarious and unkind” reactions to the new plans DC Entertainment has for making a new Superman movie with Henry Cavill out of the lead role.

Gunn wrote in a post, “We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, and we knew we would occasionally have to make difficult and not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us.”

“What we think is best for the story and the DC characters, who have been around for nearly 85 years, are the basis for our choices for the DCU.
