MG Pakistan Launches Ramadan Offer has recently launched a Ramadan offer on its crossover SUV, MG HS Essence. In a social media post, the company announced to “gear up for Eid Festivities by availing the Ramadan offer to book MG HS Essence at a great price of PKR 8,199,000* (Ex-factory Price).”
Talking to PakWheels.com, one of the MG officials said that the company has boldly decided to facilitate the people ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. “Amid the increases, HS price has not been increased in respect of Ramadan,” he added. It is pertinent to mention that most of the major car companies of Pakistan have introduced a price hike after the implementation of 25% GST on luxury items from March 8, 2023.
25% GST on Luxury Items
Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced in his speech on Finance (Supplementary) Act 2023 that the government is imposing a 25% General Sales Tax (GST) on luxury items. On March 8, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued the list of luxury items. Surprisingly, the 1400cc and above cars, all SUVs and CUVs, and 4×4 cabin vehicles were included in the luxury items.
One can understand that SUVs and 4×4 could be luxury items, but 1400cc and above cars were a shocker as these cars are majorly considered as cars of the middle class. After the announcement, the companies have been hiking their prices. Notably, for some companies, these are third or fourth price hikes, highlighting the industry’s plight.
However, MG Pakistan Launches Ramadan Offer has decided to hold the hike till the end of Ramadan, offering MG HS Essence at the current ex-factory price. So, if you want to buy locally assembled HS at the current rate, this is your chance.
